Some free advice… the nature of agricultural investments is quite different than investing in the other business sectors… the difference largely being the higher risks and how an investor is expected to deal with disasters. While disasters are uncommon, they can occur and when they do it isn't usually the farmer’s fault. If you aren’t prepared to gracefully shrug off the loss, then you shouldn’t be investing in agriculture. A comforting thought... agricultural investors are much like the absentee land owner, they have a stake in the noble business of agriculture too. While they may not be a man of the soil (often by choice), of earthy toil and sweat each day, nonetheless it's a closeness to nature accomplished.
